Continue reading »In an unexpected pairing, behemoth heritage brand Coach and L.A.-based fashion industry darlings Rodarte have paired up for a limited-edition capsule collection, set to drop next month. Designed by Coach’s Creative Director, Stuart Vevers and Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the collection marks a significant change in past collaborative efforts: This is not a high-fashion house paired with a fast-fashion company. Neither brand will have to sacrifice quality or design, as this first look proves.
“Rodarte’s conceptual approach to American style was the perfect lens to reimagine nostalgic Coach pieces,” Vevers stated in a press release. “The mash-up of influences resulted in a romantic cool collection that feels right for both houses.”
The highly anticipated partnership also marks Rodarte’s first foray into handbags. Totes bearing the archival ads will retail for $650, while embellished leather bags will be available from $295-$1,900. Beyond accessories, expect statement leather moto jackets (already spotted on Chloe Moretz) and a nod to René Magritte in the form of a sweater reading “This is A Coach Bag,” a phrase lifted from 1970s Coach advertisements.
Mark your calendars for April 14, when the Coach x Rodarte drops at select Coach stores, Coach.com, and specialty retailers worldwide.
